Personal Umbrellas

personal umbrellaDo you have enough liability insurance? A personal umbrella policy provides liability coverage over and above your auto or homeowners insurance. It is designed to protect you and your family against a large claim or lawsuit.

For example, if you are found responsible for injuring someone in a car accident, once your auto insurance pays to its limits, your umbrella policy would kick in and continue to pay up to that policy’s limit. Usually umbrella policies are sold in increments of $1,000,000.

Who needs an umbrella policy? Here are a few examples of where an umbrella policy may be needed:

  • Multi vehicle auto accident where you are at fault and several people are injured
  • A visitor to your home is seriously injured
  • Your dog bites a visitor to your home or a third party at the dog park

*Note – coverage is subject to insured limits, deductibles and covered perils.
